About this tool

Each tile is a slice of the US market, measured through its benchmark SPDR sector ETF and shaded by today's percentage move. The deeper the colour, the larger the move. The S&P 500 tile anchors the grid so you can see instantly which sectors are carrying the index and which are dragging on it.

Sector rotation is one of the fastest ways to read the character of a session. Risk-appetite days light up technology and consumer discretionary; defensive days push staples and utilities to the top. The map compresses that into a single look.
